When Victoria was arrested her eldest daughter, Jalaysa was taken into the custody of Child Protective Services. Since the day of her arrest, Victoria and Jalaysa have had a rocky relationship.

Victoria has been no stranger to rocky relationships. Her relationship with drugs and alcohol eventually led to her committing crimes and being arrested. She came to Solutions for Change after completing rehab and vowing to never use and never hurt her daughters again.

Now, eighteen months after her arrest, Victoria is living on the main campus of Solutions for Change and has made huge inroads in repairing her relationship with Jalaysa. Victoria is learning how to be a better parent and how to foster caring and loving relationships.

“Regardless of my issues and struggles with addiction, I have learned that my actions impact my kids,” Victoria said. “As simple as that sounds, I never realized that fact. Now, I know that in order to take care of my daughters, I have to take care of myself.”

Victoria has grown and learned so much about herself that it shows. “My husband, my friends, and my daughter tell me I look healthy and happy.” So much so that Jalaysa has made the decision to reunite and live with her mother and sister at the Solutions for Change campus.
